Head of School update

This week at school….

It has been lovely to be able to share this week the progress of all your children at our various parents evening feedback opportunities.  For those of you that navigated the various waiting areas on Zoom calls, and those that were able to attend in person – thank you!  If you were able to come in and have a look at your child’s books you will see how much they have learnt already!  We are incredibly proud of them.  Check out this week’s class updates for more information on what they have been up to.

We are also now slowly getting just a little Christmassy – in the infant school scripts have been sent out for children to learn in readiness for their performances on 18/19 December.  Don’t forget to book early!  Scarily it’s only 3 and half weeks until the end of term. We have a number of parent events in December so keep checking the website and make sure you have saved the date for the recent Dates for the diary letter.

Children in Need 17th November 2023 – We are currently finalising the donations and counting out how much we raised and will let you know shortly.  Thank you to everyone who made an effort and a huge thank you to all the bakers in our school community that brought in enough cakes for us to have 2 bake sales and not just 1!  We cannot wait for next year!

PE Changes – WC 04/12/2023 – Due to the WW2 Experience day Wonderland Class will have their PE Lesson on Wednesday 6th Dec that week instead of Tuesday 5th.

Winter Movie Night – Wed 13th Dec. MIS will be watching Ice Age (U) and MJS will be watching Home Alone, Please note this movie is  PG so by purchasing a ticket you are consenting to your child watching a PG.

This week at school….

This week we have been enjoying fantastical books, revelling in maths; learning about WWII secret missions and enjoying more library walks – Thank you to all our parent helpers who gave up their time to make this possible too! We would also like to thank Mundesley library for hosting us and for opening up access to so many of our children to enjoy visiting the library and carrying on their reading.

Children in Need 17th November 2023 – Today we enjoyed a Mufti Day in aid of Children in Need – if you have not had a chance to make a donation please do log into School Money there is still time to make a donation and every penny really does count! At the time of posting this we will also be having our bake sale taking place outside MJS – we have been lucky this year to have a Pudsey cake donated too so please bring your change. We will be posting on Facebook to keep you up to date and via the weekly websites when we know how much we have raised. Thank you in advance for all your donations!

This week we have been continuing our topic work and we welcomed junior school parents in for a special Remembrance Assembly.  The children have been learning all about what this special date means and don’t forget to take a look at our lovely poppies all along the walkway fence to the junior school that our Yr 6 class made.  Please checkout the class updates for more information.

Children in Need 17th November 2023 – Please log into school money to make a donation of 50p or £1 for Mufti Day. The bake sale will also take place outside MJS so please bring your change. If you would like to enter a ‘spotty cake creation’ then please bring in your homemade cakes to either the Infant or Junior School offices, with your child’s name clearly written and their class. 

Christmas Cards – You will have now received your child’s christmas card design. Please ensure you place your order BEFORE Friday 1st December 2023. My School Printing cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas for orders placed after this date.

This week at school….

This week has been full of activities and in between the rain (!) We managed to pack in lots of learning too! Please checkout the class updates for more information.

This weekend will see us all enjoying some fireworks. Whether this is at home or at an organised display please do take a moment to make sure pets and family members are safe. Swimming Lessons – Hogwarts first swimming lesson is due to take place next Friday (10th November). Please send your child in on these days with the correct kit – This includes trunks/costume, towel and hat (compulsory). These can be purchased via school money for £1.06.

Food bank drop-off – this week some of the school council went to the Foodbank to drop off our Harvest donations. Thank you to all for your contributions which will help to support our community.

This week at school….

We have been thankful for all the good things in our lives and enjoyed lots of crafting and activities with parents at our Harvest Festival celebrations on Tuesday.  We were fortunate this year to have lots of parents be able to come in and enjoy the afternoon with their children and then brave the chill outside and listen to the children sign their harvest songs!  Thank you to everyone and for all the kind donations of food. We will be taking any food donations to the Food Bank in Cromer on our return after half term.

As we begin the winter term in earnest the cost of living crisis does not appear to be easing, please have a look at the attached information link.  There are lots of services you can access to get help and support.  If you are experiencing hardship please also let Mrs Webster know – we are here to help. 

Help with Living Costs – Winter 2023/24 Norfolk Assistance Scheme can help you get support and financial assistance for food, energy, water, and other household essentials including white goods.

Staff changes – This week we said goodbye to Miss Finch from the Year 1 class.  We will be sad to see her go but wish her well in her new adventures!  We are also excited to announce that Miss Harris will be joining the MIS team. She will be moving into Reception and Miss Stephen will be moving into Year 1.  They are both looking forward to meeting the children and being part of their new classes.

This week at school….

This week has been full of Lions, Unicorns, planes, pilots and lots lots more! Please checkout the class updates for more information.

We are all looking forward to the Harvest Festival celebrations next week and seeing all our children’s families at the event on Tuesday.  Don’t forget to drop off your Harvest Donations to the school offices.  They all are taken to the Food Bank in Cromer to benefit all our local families.

PE Changes – Due to the Harvest Festival taking place on 17th October, Whoville’s PE day will be changed to Monday 16th instead and Wonderlands will be changed to Wednesday 18th.

School Money Issues Update: We have received confirmation from school money that they have updated the app to resolve the issues with iOS17, any parents that were affected will need to ensure their apple device  has performed the update via the App Store before proceeding.

Head of School update

This week at school….

Monday saw Year 1 & 2 using their athletic prowess to do well  participating in a Multi Sports event at Colby School.  We competed in a number of events against other local schools and the children were amazing!  They all received certificates for their hard work and achievements – we were really proud of them. Well done!

This week the children have been focussing on lots of maths and english and their writing skills have been put to the test. We have seen some amazing work, it’s great to see.  Each week we post the highlights of what they have been learning on the class updates – please take a look and see what they have achieved.

As we now run into the last 2 weeks of this first half term we have  a number of events to look forward to including an opportunity to see parents and families again.  We very much look forward to seeing you.  This weeks reminders are as follows:

From Maths to the Battle of Britain, evacuees and Everywhere Bears, and even Lost Socks!  It’s been a brilliant week at school!

Please check out the class weekly update for all the latest information. The children this week have been enjoying some early autumn sunshine and the opportunity to run around.  It’s been a lovely week.

We have had another really good week.

This week at school……..

We have had a really good week.

All the children have settled into their new classes and are tackling their learning with enthusiasm. From learning to fly, magic crayons, to Dunkirk little ships, there have been lots of great learning happening across our school!  Check out the weekly class updates for more information.

Individual & Sibling Photos – Get your smiles at the ready – Tempest will be returning to MIJS on Monday 25th September to take Individual and Sibling photos. Please ensure that your child is in school uniform. Year 6 parents will be contacted nearer the time in regards to a change of PE day for this week only to allow for photos to be taken in our school uniform. If you have any questions or do not wish for your childs photo to be taken please contact the school office.

School Lunch Bookings ReminderCut off for ordering lunches: Every Sunday at midday the following week’s lunches will be taken offline and no more bookings can be made. If you have not ordered a lunch then the school admin team will contact you and you/a family member or friend will need to bring in a packed lunch to the office before 12pm for your child.
