Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot……..
Whilst there is thankfully nothing quite like that in Mundesley (!) we have ended our first week back with bonfire night upon us. The children settled in well after their half term break and for the most part we have been enjoying some lovely autumn weather. In class, the children have been working on all sorts of wonderful topics including the warrior Queen Boudicca and her exploits and even making jam sandwiches! Please read the class updates to see what they have been up to.
On Thursday the Reverend Joanna Hayward held our rescheduled Harvest Assembly with all the children. We took the opportunity to revisit what we are thankful for and see all the donations that our families had so generously given. Our School Council representatives will be taking them to the Cromer Foodbank for us to present on behalf of the school.
This week has also seen the opening of the Mundesley Merit Book Shop, where the children can spend their well earned merits. The items in the shop include stickers, stationary items, bookmarks and a selection of books. The children who have visited the shop so far have all been incredibly excited, either choosing to spend their merits or to save them to make a bigger purchase in the future. Children can earn merits in a range of ways in school, however the best way for them to earn merits is through regular reading at home.
Poppy Appeal 2022 – As per our letter emailed out yesterday, we will be supporting the Royal British Legion in their annual Poppy Appeal. Details of how to purchase items were on the letter, and can also be found on the web site. We will also be representing the school at the Mundesley Royal British Legion Armistice service on Friday 11 with our Year 6 children assisting. This is an event that the children and veterans that attend on the day find very moving. I am sure the children will do us proud again this year.
Friday also saw the children enjoy their themed lunch of “Bangers” prepared by our lovely catering team from Norse. Don’t forget we have themed events each term – check out the menus available on the website. We will be sending out details of all the events for this term shortly, plus details of the Christmas performance dates and lunch etc. It may seem early but there are only a few weeks to go!
Community Warm Hubs:- Please check out the noticeboards and flyers being sent out tonight advertising our local offering. Whether it is a one off or regular, please take the opportunity to chat and enjoy a warm space in our communities.
PTFA Halloween Disco – thank you to everyone who attended. The children all had a great time. Check out the photo gallery for some of the spooky characters we had attend!
Lastly, if you and your family are going to be enjoying fireworks this weekend, we wish you a lovely time and please stay safe – remember remember the Firework Code Firework Code – Norfolk
