Head of School update

Our First Full Week

I am sure we are all agreed that this first full week back after Christmas has been lovely!  At school we have been learning about Mayans, Anglo Saxons, London and lots more. Check out the class updates for more information.

Last week we sent out a uniform reminder particularly in regard to slippers.  We now have a stock of indoor shoes in a variety of sizes, all of them priced at £2.99, which is significantly cheaper than purchasing anything in the shops.  Please take advantage of this and contact the school office for information.

PTFA News:  If you have not already booked your tickets, don’t forget the Friendship Disco – Tickets are now live on school money.  We are always looking for helpers or new members.  There is no commitment for regular help but if you can spare half an hour or support any of our events it would make a real difference.  If you are interested please get in touch with Mrs Cotter in the school office.

Final reminder that Infant and Junior School applications MUST be made by 15th January.  Please check out the NNDC website for details of the admissions process or contact the school office with any queries.

Census Day Lunch – this term the census is Thursday 19 January.  Please help us by booking a lunch for your child. The funding we receive for your children is based on the numbers that book a lunch. Your help will be greatly appreciated. The menu for the day has been altered to make it attractive to the children too. Check out the school money system to book.

Some of you may have noticed but we now have new notice boards at the Infant and Junior School.  These will be updated regularly, please do stop and have a look.  If you have any suggestions of notices to add please let us know via the school office.

In the letters this week we have a reminder in regard to the character Huggy Wuggy which several children have spoken about seeing on a variety of platforms. Please be vigilant in regard to what your children are accessing and please let us know if you have any queries or concerns.

With the current cost of living crisis and just after the Christmas break, you may or may not be aware that the criteria has changed for the thresholds to receive Free School Meals.  Even if you have been unsuccessful before, its definitely worth applying.  Not only does your child benefit from free school meals each day, but you will also receive a discount to school trips.  We would love to be able to help.

Slippers/plimsolls:  Slippers are part of our uniform.  Please ensure that children have a pair of slippers or plimsolls in school. Traditionally this is our wettest and coldest time of the year and children will need slippers to change into. Unfortunately children will not be able to play on the field without any slippers to change into due to the mud being brought into school.  Slippers are available from the school office all priced at £2.99

Coats:  Please provide your child with a warm waterproof coat.  This time of the year it is very very cold and often wet.  Please help us to keep your child warm and well by making sure they bring in a warm coat to wear outside as we do go out at every opportunity.
