We’ve had another fabulous week in Ruby Bridges Class.
In Phonics, Reception have been reading and writing CVCC and CCVC words such as groan and paint. Year 1s have been concentrating on the oy grapheme and the split digraphs a-e, e-e and i-e.
In Maths, Reception have been doubling and halving numbers using lots of different methods. Year 1s have moved onto subtraction, we have used concrete objects, pictorial and finally abstract (writing the number sentence).
In English, Year 1s have had a great week, especially on our experience day writing with fountain pens, ciphers, creating codes and breaking codes. Reception have continued with Handa’s Surprise. We spent time looking through the ‘action’ lens e.g. Handa was running, jumping, galloping, skipping etc. We even got to taste skittles as part of the feeling lens.
In Topic we have moved our PSHE question into caring for the world and why it is important to look after our World.
In PE we had a great time travelling in lots of different ways to find some treasure on the islands.
Well done Ruby Bridges Class.
