Wow, I can’t believe it is the end of Summer 1, we’ve had a great week.
This week in Phonics, Reception have been read reading the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’, they have then read and written lots of CVCC, CCVC words, we also learnt the words; like, time and your. Year 1s have been re-capping on the o-e grapheme, the u-e grapheme that makes the long oo sound. the u-e grapheme that makes the long U sound and the ar grapheme.
In English, the Years 1s have worked really hard to complete their independent write about Samuel Pepys. Reception have started to do some chotting ( chatting and jotting) ready for after half term when we will be doing more of this.
In Maths, Reception have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and patterns. Year 1 have focused on number bonds to 10, we also looked at greater than, less than and equals to.
In Topic we have been looking at how we can help our world, we had a great discussion about Endangered and Extinct animals and recapped on facts from last week. We made a list of things that we could do to help save our planet.
We enjoyed our final week of multi skills in PE. After half term, we aim to be outside for every session, please make sure your child has their joggers, a plain navy or black jumper and trainers that fit (not plimsols) – please look on the web site for the PE kit.
Have a fantastic half term with your family. Stay safe 🙂
