Ruby Bridges class update 09 Oct 2020

This week in Ruby Bridges, Reception have learnt the new sounds i and n and the high frequency words as, in, is, it and I. We have been sounding out words and blending them for reading e.g. s-a-t=sat. Year 1s have been consolidating their learning and reading lots of captions and sentences. This week the new Monster Phonics books (R & Yr 1) will come home, please practice this with your child three or more times a week as well as practicing their tricky words. In maths we have continued with patterns, patterns in claps, pictures, numicon and numberblocks. We have also focused on more and fewer/less. We have been busy voting for our class bears name and ‘Pumpkin’ will go home each week with a different child. The bear and the journal will come home in a bag on a Thursday and will need to be returned on Monday so that it can be quarantined  and washed, ready to go home again the following Thursday. This will start on Thursday 12th October.  Also,  congratulations to Lily W, Alice and Miloh for becoming our new School Council members for Ruby Bridges Class.

Please make sure your child has their coat, book bag and water bottle every day. The weather is changeable and we often have children with no coat. Book bags need to contain their reading book, their reading record and their tag words, we cannot give your child a new book until the old one has been returned. Many thanks for your continued support.

Hello Pumpkin Bear!
