|Michelle Obama Class has had a great week of learning. We have sequenced the story of ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ and written ‘superb’ sentences to match the pictures. Superb sentences are made up of these simple steps – think it, say it, count the words, capital letter, sound it out, finger paces, full stops and check, check, checkidy check. The children’s sentences have been truly superb! They even managed to use some of the brilliant vocabulary from the book.|
In Maths Year 2’s have been counting in steps of 2, 5, 10 and 3- it would be great to practice these at home. Year 1’s have been introduced to number lines.
This week we started our science unit: ‘Everyday Materials’. We have identified some different materials including wood, plastic, metal, glass, water and rock, and started to describe their properties. See if you could use some of the fantastic describing words (adjectives) you have learnt to describe some materials at home. We are still working on how we become brilliant learners by working out how we learn to learn. This week we have discussed the importance of rules, why we have them and what they are.
Children need to come to school in their PE kit on Mondays. This includes tracksuit bottoms, a jumper, socks and trainers (we will be doing PE outside- and it’s getting rather chilly now!)
