Michelle Obama Class has had another brilliant week of learning.
We have been investigating the seagulls in the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. Before we wrote our fantastic sentences, which used capital letters and full stops along with amazing vocabulary, we went seagull spotting! We discovered that seagulls do a lot more than scavenge and devour food!
In maths we have been comparing objects and numbers using the terms ‘greater than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’ and the symbols <>=.
In Topic we have begun to learn how to use the internet safely. It would help to remind your children of a few things when they are using internet devices: do they remember to ask a grown up to use it? Can they tell a grown up what they want to use it for? Do they know what to do if they see a pop up, or something that worries them?
We are still working on how we become brilliant learners by working out how we learn to learn. To help us we have been making origami boats – we started with no adult help, then introduced pictures, video, adult help and then partner work. We are now at the ‘becoming experts’ stage – it would really help your child understand the learning process if you practised together at home. Ask your child to show you!
Here’s the link to the instructions if you need them.
Children need to come to school in their PE kit on Mondays. This includes tracksuit bottoms, a jumper, socks and trainers (we will be doing PE outside- and it’s getting rather chilly now!)
