Michelle Obama Class Weekly Update

What a fantastic start to the new term we’ve had.To support the transition for the Year 1 children,we have made continuous provision available, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed! We have been developing our fine motor skills, conker rolling and doing lots of counting in our outdoor area. Junk modelling of lighthouses has been really popular too! Both Year 1 and Year 2 have begun their Monster Phonic journeys, which they are very excited about. All of us have been revisiting counting forwards and backwards, representing numbers in different ways, and Year 2 have investigated place value –  looking at how many tens and ones are in numbers. In English we have started the wonderful ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ – Please don’t read it at home as we are on a voyage of discovery with Mr Grinling! We have recapped our JONK learning skills and also introduced the children to Zones of Regulation. This is to help them explore and understand their emotions.
