We’ve had a wonderful start to the term and the children have been so excited to find out that we are going to be writing a non-chronological report on Pirates in our English! We have investigated the shape of a non-chronological report to know what we have to write. To help the children in their research we became Pirates; we measured out a pirate ship, made hats, came up with our pirate names, swabbed the decks, bailed out the bilges and some of our pirates had to walk the plank! We have now begun sentence stacking, which is a way of writing high quality sentences. I am really impressed with their sentences.
In Maths, Year 1’s have been looking at the + symbol and finding the missing number in addition number sentences – 2+ _ = 3.
Year 2’s have been looking at how they can use number bonds to 10 to find number bonds to 100, e.g. if they know 1+9 = 10 they can use this to make 10+90 = 100.
We have all been working on comparing number sentences using < = > symbols – I have uploaded two dice games onto Google Classroom for you to practise at home. All the children thoroughly enjoyed playing them.
We have been able to send out our brand new Monster Phonics reading books to all children this week. Once the book has been completed please return it and we will exchange it for a new Monster Phonics reading book.
