Jemison Class update

It was so lovely to see all the children come back to school after the half term break with smiling faces! Just before half term we all enjoyed the Halloween Disco and the children were even treated to my dance moves! Now back to learning ; in English we have started learning about instructions using the recipe book by the chef Nadiya Hussain called Bake me a Celebration Story. We’re learning about how to hook the reader in with alliterations and posing questions that will make them want to cook the recipe. In maths we are focusing on number bonds to 10 and 20 and addition. Just today we started using a number line and doing frog jumps to add two amounts. In topic we have been learning about different materials, where they come from and words to describe them. We have been expanding our vocabulary and learnt the word translucent! See if they can remember what it means… We also did an experiment making bridges out of different materials and seeing how much weight it could hold. Then the children had a go at making their own during JONK time. We have some budding architects/engineers in our class!
