Farthing Wood

Welcome to Farthing Wood Class

Farthing Wood

Welcome to Farthing Wood Class. In this wonderful Class you will find 23 very curious and inquisitive children who are really looking forward to building their resilience , resourcefulness, collaborative and creative skills, as well as being reflective and curious just like our JONK characters! We have Mrs Betts as our teacher and three wonderful teaching assistants: Miss Cutting, Mrs Farrow, and Miss Stephen to help us during the week. Just like the wonderful woodland animals of Farthing Wood we are going to be super busy exploring our provision inside and out and investigating all the amazing resources during our independent learning.

What are we learning about this term?

This half term we are going to be exploring our Topic - 'All About Me!' and look at what makes a good friend and member of our school community.

In this topic, we will be understanding the world by talking about members of our immediate family and community whilst exploring their likes and dislikes. We shall discuss what we do when we are at school and describe people who are familiar to us such as staff from school or people within our community.

We shall be learning about how we look after our bodies in a healthy way. This includes the importance of brushing our teeth correctly and how to manage our own hygiene (washing hands, going to the toilet etc). We shall also be discussing why we need to eat fruit and vegetables.

In expressive arts and design, we will be using pencils and other materials (pastels, chalk) to draw pictures from observations and begin to show accuracy and care when drawing.

We look forward to a great half-term learning 'All About Me'!
