Bumblebee Class weekly update

It’s been wonderful to see all the children back again after half-term. They have had an amazing week of learning!
We have been recapping our School Rules along with our JONK characters and the Zones of Regulation. The children love our JONK characters and know that each one of them will help with their learning when they experience the Joy Of Not Knowing (JONK). The learning skills they help us with are; resilience, collaboration, resourcefulness, creative, reflective and curious. Our Zones of Regulation support us with our emotions, the children know that its ok to experience all the ‘big’ emotions of joy, sadness, worry and anger but it is what we do with those emotions that is important.

In Phonics we have been learning Miss Oh No! ‘oa’ along with Tricky Witch and Ghost letter high frequency words some, come and one.
In Maths we have been comparing and measuring height and length using non-standard units of measure such as paperclips or cubes. We have read Jasper’s Beanstalk by Nick Butterworth and planted our own sunflower seeds which we are looking forward to seeing grow! We have also found out what we can do in a minute – you might be very surprised!

This week we have begun our new Topic – Ticket to Ride. We recapped the jobs which people do and have begun to look at the vehicles which they use. We have learnt our new vocabulary for this topic – ‘happiness’ and ‘opportunities’.

Next Thursday will be World Book Day. We will be having a ‘Booknic’ in Class and our theme for dressing up is ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. This is one of the children’s favourite books and they can dress up as butterflies, caterpillars, cakes, biscuits, plums, pears or strawberries – anything that the Hungry Caterpillar ate!
