In Phonics we have been learning the Black Cat digraph ‘or’ and the high frequency words do, so and it’s. In Maths we have made equal groups and begun combining two groups to find a total. We have been using our counting sticks to help us – we tap them every time we count an object. The children are all super proud of their sticks so please ask them about them. They may even like to make their own at home! In PE we have been learning to hold and control a ball. We have really enjoyed rolling it from our head to our toes and all around our tummies! The whole Class has loved finding out about the different jobs people do this week. We began by looking at the jobs people do to build houses, the whole class wanted to know how glass was made so we investigated that and found that it was made from silica sand. I think everyone wanted to be a bricklayer so we had a go at laying ‘bricks with cement’! It was very popular! We then moved onto looking at jobs in our village and then the wider world. Lots of children then decided they wanted to work in the police, with animals and even in space as astronauts. We have found out that there are different types of astronauts too! It would be great if you could talk to your children about your jobs over half term.
