Bumblebee Class update

The Class have been very busy learning about different vehicles in our Topic. They have really enjoyed looking at cars and diggers and have used their amazing scientist brains to investigate friction and forces. They have discovered that a force can push or pull and that friction happens when when two surfaces are rubbed together. They then used that knowledge to investigate whether cars travelled the same distances on rough and smooth surfaces.
In maths we have been using our ‘fast eyes’ to subtise (recall a number without counting) – The class are developing super fast eyes for this skill! They have also been looking at making equal groups and understanding whether they enough or too many.
In phonics our grapheme has been Tricky Witch’s ‘er’. We have discovered that this mostly occurs at the end of a word and we can often see a double consonant. We’ve learnt that we don’t have to say the same consant twice, for example summer, dinner and supper. Tricky Witch definitely hasn’t caught the children out this week!
We have also eaten pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, decorated and eaten cakes for our World Book Day ‘Booknic’! The Hungry Caterpillar would have loved to eat them all!
All the Staff were so impressed with the children’s costumes so a very BIG thank you for helping us make it a great experience for the children.

REMINDER: we have PE on a Monday and will change reading books on a Monday too so please ensure your child brings their reading book and reading record to school every day. If we don’t catch them to read on a Monday we will read with children during the week.
Please make sure your child has waterproof shoes or wellies – we are now using our ‘mud kitchen’ – and also slippers to change into. Thank you
