Attenborough Class update

We started this week with a visit from PC Emma Robinson. During an assembly she introduced herself and the role of the police to the children – they were all fantastic and asked lots of questions.
In Phonics we have been learning ‘j’, ‘v’, ‘w’ and ‘x’. We have found these letters really tricky to write and have been practising them in our new handwriting notebooks. If you would like letter formation sheets to practise at home please let me know.
This week we have continued to read the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children have thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the repeated refrains in the story and deciding which choices mattered to the Pigs and the Wolf. Last week the children created their own version of the story and together they acted out everybody’s story – it was wonderful to watch!
In Maths we have been looking at the composition of 3 along with circles and triangles. The children loved going on a shape hunt for them and are super confident at finding circles. We have also been learning positional language such as under, over, in, out, in front, behind and between.
In Topic we have been looking at ‘Where we live’ – the children are fascinated with google earth and we have visited lots of different villages this week. We have also been looking at maps and how useful they are especially if people want to visit our village. We talked about what we would need to put on a map and then had a go at creating one!
We love to see what adventures your child gets up to at home – clubs they attend , baking, reading, making dens, being creative, going on nature walks. Tapestry is a wonderful place to share these with us and the class – please upload your photos and a brief description so we can share these together during circle time.
