Attenborough Class update

Wow, what a busy week we have had in Attenborough class. It’s nearly Christmas and we have been busy practising our singing and rehearsing for the Nativity – the children cannot wait for you to see it. We think you’ll really enjoy it!
In phonics we have been introduced to ‘Cool Blue’ and his ‘oo’ grapheme and we have been recapping our High Frequency Words from this term – the children have amazed me with their knowledge and sight reading.
In English we have been performing the children’s own versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It makes me so proud to see them act out each others stories and it really is a joy to watch.
In maths we have looked at four sided shapes. We have learnt that rectangles can have two short and two long sides but special rectangles that have four equal sides can be called squares. The children were brilliant at spotting rectangles and special rectangles in the school environment. We have also looked at sequencing and time; things we do at certain times of the day.
In Topic we have been looking at religious buildings and different religious beliefs. First we looked at Christianity and then we looked at Hinduism and the special festival – the Festival of Light (Diwali).

If you would like to send in a photo of your house we can use it in our small world – the children love to play and make up stories with familiar buildings. We love to see what adventures your child gets up to at home – clubs they attend , baking, reading, making dens, being creative, going on nature walks. Tapestry is a wonderful place to share these with us and the class – please upload your photos and a brief description so we can share these together during circle time.
