Attenborough Class update

This week in Monster Phonics we have been looking at the letters e, u and r. We have been practicing all our sounds we have learnt this term and the children have blown my socks off we how amazing they are at remembering them. I have had the pleasure of hearing some children read this week and I am so impressed with their segmenting and blending – they should all be very proud of themselves. In Maths this week we have been consolidating our learning. We have looked at sharing, comparing and sorting using size, colour and shape. We have also been exploring repeating patterns and the children have collaboratively made an amazing repeating pattern octopus!
In Topic this week we have been discovering the season ‘Autumn’ and the amazing things that happen during the season as well as some of the events we celebrate. On Tuesday afternoon we went for an Autumnal Welly Walk around the school grounds and had a wonderful time spotting different coloured leaves, berries, mushrooms, acorns and chestnuts. We even looked for a squirrel but with no luck! We played in the leaves and discovered ‘Helicopter’ seeds. We had so much fun throwing them in the air and watching them fall back down!
After half term we will embark on more ‘Welly Walks’ – whatever the weather! Please ensure you send wellies and waterproofs with your child to keep in their locker at school.
Finally, have a wonderful half term – maybe you could go on a welly walk or carve a pumpkin together. If you do please send us some photos, we would love to see what the children are exploring over the holidays. There is an amazing app called ‘50 things to do’ (https://norfolk.50thingstodo.org/app/os#!50thingstodobefore5/welcome) that is free to download and has lots of great ideas for you to try. Please upload your photos to your child’s Tapestry account. Have a good half term break and see you all again on Monday 31 October.
