Attenborough Class update

Firstly, it was lovely to see so many of you this morning at our Reading café for Macmillan Coffee Morning. It’s always lovely to welcome you into class to experience how your children learn within the continuous provision. Don’t worry of you couldn’t make it – there are plenty more opportunities planned through out the year.  In Phonics this week we have looked at the letters d, m and g and the children have been very excited to share their first Monster Phonics reading books with you at home. They are becoming super confident in segmenting and blending. I hope you found the video I shared last week useful for practicing their sounds and actions.  In Maths we have been ‘Comparing’ this week. We have investigated big and small, little and large, taller and shorter. We built towers and had to see if we could build one taller and then build one shorter. The children were amazing and use a variety of resources to do this – drawing, buttons, our families and blocks.  In Topic we are continuing the story of ‘The Everywhere Bear’. We created lost posters and thought about who we would want to help us if we lost something. We decided our friends would be perfect for this and looked at ‘how we could be a good friend to others’. We talked about how it felt to be a good friend and how we feel when our friends help us.  Can you please remember to send the children in with wellies and waterproofs . We will go outside regardless of the weather and we are hoping to start ‘Welly Walks’ around the school grounds. Can you also remember to send you child in with a full water bottle everyday. Thank you to those of you that have sent in photos of your families, it’s been lovely to see them and have them up in class. The children have really enjoyed talking about their families with their peers and adults. Don’t worry if you haven’t you are still able to send them to myself (k.betts@coastaltogether.co.uk) or the school office.
