Attenborough Class update

We have had the most amazing last couple of weeks in Attenborough Class. Last week the children had two transition days and spent time in their new classroom and getting to know their new teacher Miss Allison. They all came back full of excitement and ready to move on to the next chapter of their learning journey.
On Friday we went to Amazona Zoo and had a wonderful time together looking at all the amazing animals and their different habitats. We even got to go on the jumping pillows (adults included!!) and the adventure play! A great time was had by all and we have decided to spend some of our attendance money adopting a Jaguar – if you visit over the holidays see if you can spot it!

This week has been ‘Activity Week’ and the children (and adults) have had a fantastic time engaging in a new topic everyday.
Monday was Pirate Day and we spent the day making pirate hats, eye patches and cutlasses! We drew treasure maps and went on an amazing treasure hunt looking for Pirates and trying to find the buried treasure! The children were brilliant at cracking the code and everyone found a piece of sparkling treasure!
Tuesday was Neon Disco Day – we read the story Kitchen Disco and the children came up with new dance moves they would do if they went to the Disco. We created our own disco balls and vegetables to go to the disco in the Kitchen. Finally we were ready to attend our very own Neon Disco and it was absolutely AMAZING!! We all had a wonderful time dancing, singing and spending time together!
Wednesday the children got to spend the day doing their last Forest School session with Mrs Bicker. They painted with flowers, reflected on what they had learnt over their time together and played games.
Thursday was Seaside Day. The children had a sandcastle competition and even created their own flags to put on the top! We read the story What the Ladybird heard at the Seaside. We came up with some amazing ideas on what we could use as hair for the mermaid including an octopus and squid!! We then had an afternoon of Bubbles!! The children made their own bubble wands and we had a great time chasing them around the outside area!
Friday was our last day together as a class and we spent time together talking and reflecting on all the amazing things we have done this year and how much each and everyone of them has achieved. We watched a film and had an Ice Cream Factory – it was yummy!!

I would just like to take this opportunity to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to you, the parents, for entrusting your child’s first year of school with me. I hope you will agree that they have all achieved so much and have grown over the past year both in confidence and knowledge. I am so proud of them and it has been an absolute pleasure to teach them. I will miss them all and wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next exciting chapter.

Finally have a wonderful summer holiday, I hope you have exciting adventures together and spend time relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.
