Attenborough Class update

The children have been absolute superstars this week – we have begun our Monster Phonics journey! The children have been introduced to the Monsters and have learnt the sounds for the Black Cat letters s,a, t and p. They have been absolutely amazing at recognising the initial sounds in words. In our ‘All About Me’ Topic we have found out about our school rules and JONK, which is The Joy of Not Knowing. We have explored how it is great to not know things because the more we think and do, the more our brains will grow. The children have also learnt about the JONK animals and their characteristics who help with our learning behaviours; curious cats, resilient sharks, resourceful octopus, collaborative bees, creative spiders and reflective monkeys.

Library Books will be changed on a Monday and we will issue more library books when children return their previous ones. Your child will be sent home with a Reading Book next week along with a reading wallet and reading record in their book bag. Please record when you read with your child in the Reading Record.

Can you please remember to send the children in with appropriate weather clothing – sunhat, wellies and waterproofs . We will go outside regardless of the weather.
Next week in Topic we are going to be looking at families – we would love a photo of your child’s family to display in our Home Corner, a picture to spark a conversation and remind your child of home. (You can email these to me or the school office and we will print them off).

NB: Please remember we always encourage our children to be independent therefore please send them to school in shoes that they can put on, and take off, themselves.
