Attenborough Class update

What an amazing last week of term we have had in Attenborough class.
In phonics we have introduced two new Tricky Witch trigraphs – ‘ear’ as in hear, beard, fear, dear and ‘ure’ (you have to say it in a posh voice!) as in sure, lure, manure, furniture. We have been super detectives and looked for the hidden flashcards both inside and out and then sorted them into the correct sound group.
In English we have continued with ‘Drawing Club’ this week and have been watching a short clip from ‘Wacky Races’. The children loved Dastardly and Muttley. We have drawn our own wacky racing cars, our own mascots and our own baddy! The children have the most fantastic imagination and used their Monster Phonics knowledge and wrote the most wonderful descriptive sentences explaining what they have drawn!
In Maths we are still consolidating our learning and have been busy combining two groups and finding out how many we have altogether, matching numerals to pictures, working out who has more and using bead strings to continue to imbed number bonds to 10.
In Topic we answer our key enquiry question for this term – ‘Does the past have an impact on our future’. The children realised that what happens in the past means we can have a better future. Toys are better, phones are better, even hoovers!! There are lots of opportunities for us to try new and exciting things because of what has happened in the past – like exploring space! We remembered we are all unique and we all have different likes and dislikes and this may impact on our future and what job we may have. We decided it would be a good idea to try every new opportunity given to us even if it is a little scary.
We have also been learning about the Christian Faith and their celebrations, especially Easter. We learnt all about the story of Jesus and why Christians celebrate this special story. We tried hot cross buns, made easter bonnets, easter baskets and easter nests!
Please could you ensure your child brings Wellies with them on a Wednesday as they will go out whatever the weather.
We love to see what adventures your child gets up to at home – clubs they attend , baking, reading, making dens, being creative, going on nature walks. Tapestry is a wonderful place to share these with us and the class – please upload your photos and a brief description so we can share these together during circle time.
Finally we hope you all have an amazing Easter Holiday and we cannot wait to see you all for the summer term!
