Attenborough Class update

We have had another fantastic week in Attenborough class this week.
In Phonics we have introduced the digraph ‘ai’ as in pain, rain, main, aim and snail. The children have loved doing the action for this sound and we have learnt all about Angry Red A.
The children have been busy using their phonics knowledge to decode words and make their own flashcards.
In English we have continued to look at the story of LIttle Red Riding Hood. We have compared two different versions of the story and discussed the main characters, the setting and the endings. We talked about how they were similar but they had differences. The children then came up with their own characters which were similar but different.
In Maths we have begun a new phase called ‘Growing 6, 7 and 8’. We have been busy this week looking at the composition (one number can be made up from (composed from) two or more smaller numbers) of 6, 7 and 8 using dominos and ladybirds. We discovered there are lots of different ways to make 6, 7 and 8! Ask your child if they can share what they know with you at home.
In Topic we have been looking at ‘Our Village’ and the different buildings we can find in the village. We all went on a trip in the minibus to look at all the different buildings we could see and recognise. We had such an amazing time, the children absolutely loved it and we definitely plan to go on more adventures in the minibus!
We love to see what adventures your child gets up to at home – clubs they attend , baking, reading, making dens, being creative, going on nature walks. Tapestry is a wonderful place to share these with us and the class – please upload your photos and a brief description so we can share these together during circle time.
