Jesse Owens class update w/e 20/11/2020

We have had a challenging but brilliant week in Jesse Owens class. It’s Anti-bullying week, so we have discussed what bullying is, and how we can play an active role in preventing bullying from happening at our school. The children came up with lots of ideas about how to be kind, and what to do if they see or experience unkind and hurtful behaviour.

The children have written their first long piece of completely independent writing this year: a non-chronological report about pirates! The children have written some fantastic sentences and paragraphs- have a go at asking them what they know about pirates!

In Maths, Year 2 have been looking at the concept of addition by making 10. We have used practical apparatus before moving onto number lines.

In Art, the children have had a go at recreating Samuel Thomas’ “Calming Seas” by drawing on canvas, and mixing primary colours to make secondary colours. The children noticed how different and unusual it felt to draw on the canvas instead of paper!
