Glacier Polar & Marine Class Update 24 January 2020

We have had an exciting week this week! We have started to learn all about emperor penguins living in Antarctica. We have sorted different animals into mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians, and showed that we were already quite good at naming some common and more obscure creatures. In maths we have been investigating and making arrays for repeated addition, which we have discovered is the same as multiplying. In Seal Phonics group, we looked at: ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar and high frequency words and have some top tips to avoid confusing b and d! In Orca Phonics group, we looked at: ir, ue, oy, aw and high frequency words. In Albatross Phonics group, we looked at: /n/ spelt ‘gn’ and ‘kn’, /igh/ spelt ‘y’ and common exception words on top of using spelling strategies.
